You might not have seen much about this in the press but today Royal Mail once again raised prices. A first class stamp is now £1.80 and first class large letters under 100g are over £3 (the majority of my post).
There really is no suitable alternatives for letter based services. Evri next day is just slightly more expensive but I don’t trust Evri to deliver next day, to the right address or frankly even at all. Sorry if you’re a good Evri driver.
So I have reintroduced a second class option to the site on a trial basis. It is just under £1 cheaper than first class which can make the difference on a low value order.
However, please remember that Royal Mail are phasing out 6 day delivery for second class. It is going to a 5 day, alternate days/alternate weeks system. You may already be on this new rota – you probably need to check with your postie.

I would always urge customers to select first class, but wanted to give this another trial to see if the lower cost outweighs the longer delivery time for customers.
