After a few more thin clear coats I switched to the Button Polish. This dries so much quicker than the transparent that I was able to get a good 6 coats on in one day, top and sides. The colour deepens with each coat, so this is as far as I plan to go. Now I am going to add another 3 or 4 thin layers of the transparent shellac to finish off and smooth everything out before the final knock back with steel wool.
There are a couple of places where there is a slight build up at the end of a stroke, but I fully expect them to smooth themselves out and burn in with the transparent coats. I’ll give it a day or so to cure then continue with the back. I’m also starting on the neck, and as I am planning just a few coats, expect to have that finished before the body, so they can both sit and cure for a week or so before assembly.
